BMI Calculator

Your body mass index (BMI) is used to help determine if you are at a healthy weight or not. BMI is calculated using your weight and height. It’s not a perfect measure because it doesn’t take into account your muscle mass and percentage of body fat, but it can help us figure out how much weight you need to lose to reduce your risk of medical complications.

BMI 19-24: HEALTHY WEIGHT

  • Eat a balanced diet with 5 servings of vegetables and fruit daily (a serving is 1 cup of green leafy or ½ cup of other vegetables; 1 medium or ½ cup of fruit)
  • Try to sleep at least 7 hours a night for weight maintenance

BMI 25-29: OVERWEIGHT

  • You are at increased risk of medical problems associated with your weight especially if your waist circumference is > 35” if you are a woman and > 40” if you are a man
